PROJECTS
Here's the plan. This is a Safe Space is an umbrella project, under which other projects seeking to explore, deconstruct, and redefine 'safe space' will be housed. The first project, #MySafeSpace, is an online conversation taking place via various social media channels. This will serve as a research phase for what will come next. Join the conversation and stay tuned...
SAFE SPACE. Some roll their eyes at the mere mention of the phrase, laughing at today’s overly politically correct culture. Others breathe a sigh of relief at the possibility of the words found in the same sentence – or at least the sequence of colors that symbolize its meaning – in the hopes that they have finally found the place that they have so desperately sought, a place that will tolerate their existence.
#MySafeSpace is an online conversation, aiming to spark introspection and self-awareness in those seeking safer spaces, while educating and building awareness in those who dismiss the term – with the goal of bridging the gap between these audiences.
The campaign will feature images, texts, and graphics, calling upon participants to engage in various ways. Individual posts will ask viewers to share their ideas, thoughts, and narratives, each one containing a specific prompt or call to action. This online communal conversation will take place on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, utilizing #MySafeSpace.
Join the online conversation via our social media pages and begin to engage in a dialogue to facilitate this process.
This event was made possible through the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation's #MakeItHappen initiative. The opportunity for this support is made available to alumni of Eighteen:22 – A global network for change; the next chapter of LGBTQ Jewish life.
